Brightness of day
does not always illuminate,
does not bring clarity;
obscured by deluge of color
and the parity of the palette before me
lie thoughts needing to be addressed,
dreams waiting to be caressed,
beliefs needing to be put to the test,
a tired, old soul seeking solace and rest
if only he can keep his resolve
before he dissolves, like the sun into the sea,
like the sugar in your tea;
adding to the flavor of things you should savor
but just enough because too much
would be bittersweet
and yet another lesson learned...
