Assateague...

Not the first wave to hit shore
there were others
and there will be more
Fishing poles stuck in the sand,
hoping tide and time
will lend a hand
The ocean is vast,
bringing visions of the Past
to my mind's eye...

Horses walking past the tents,
if you wondering
where you food went
Leave nothing out at night
for our simple pleasures
fill them with delight
Are they really wild
when the beg us for food
like a starving child?

Do not sleep the day away;
get up, get out
go to work or play
Listen to what the wind says;
to hear you must listen
to you heart instead of your head
The Earth hasn't changed
but it feels the strain
of our lost Innocence...

Seagulls gliding on the breeze
Children playing in the sand
on their knees
Life's moments are made of this
for today is all there really is
Yesterday is a memory;
is it one you'll treasure?
Tomorrow is just a dream,
Time, just a unit of measure
Seek out what brings you peace
be it by the sweat of your brow
of soft moments of leisure...
