I
Moon has begun to fade
behind the shadow of Earth
A small, dark bite taken,
almost hesitant at first
A celestial cookie on the sky's plate
with the Milky Way for beverage
if you feel, as i do, the thirst
i sit gazing in wonder
at the majesty, the splendor
as it floats just above my head
so close i can almost send her a kiss
for the Moon is a woman;
pale but glowing
shining in the darkness
all too aware of what she's showing
Since Time immemorial, men stand in testimony
stand in mute wonder and awe
questioning what was that which we saw...
II
Half in darkness, half in light
as the stars as well disappear from sight
Wind is howling with all it's might
the largest wolf baying,
not with sorrow but with delight
Somewhere in dense jungle
some may still cower in fright
at the power displayed this special night
Let the night be rent asunder,
let the darkness overshadow
if only for a few hours
so in that time we may come to know
and understand the light
as we ponder in the darkness
for isn't Life still any body's guess?
III
Half the sky is muted,
a chalky rose, stalking the Moon;
the other dark as ink
as the Moon scratches at the sky
scrambling as it sinks
sideways into the dark envelope of night
The clouds have moved in,
slowly now that the wind has died
leaving them to spread their wings
and show their pride in the Celestial miracle
revealed before my eyes watching as Moon
becomes a mere dot in the sky
I dare not blink,
of what use would it be to think?
yet that is what i do;
gaze upward and think,
what would happen if she never returns?
IV
The horizon, blacker than i have ever seen
Moon had not returned, leaving me wonder
was she but a figment of my imagination,
a softly glowing, milky white dream?
A lesson learned again in waiting,
in longing and anticipation
for all our lives are our own creation
so think up something good...
Earth's circle divides the miracle
hiding light of day from Moon's face
Though i know she is always there,
this morning i wonder when and where
i will see her and her sweet face
erases my worries of the night
Would that i could take her in my arms
and let us float among the Heavens and stars
holding each other tight...
V
Moon is now a glimmer in the sky,
dancing and shimmering as clouds race by
The slightest color caught my eye
as snow flurries skated across the ice
The coming dawn has spread her mantle
of color on one side of the sleeping world
while night's dark goblet spills to the west
revealing the pearl that is the Moon
glowing in the opaque ambrosia of milky clouds
Let the sun burn the mist early,
let me see fiery clouds swirling
about her as she spins and twirls
on her journey around the Earth
of little worth some say this is
but to me the universe lies in my hand
in moments such as this...
VI
The Moon returned under cover,
a fleeting glimpse here and there
of the halo glowing behind the clouds
as the Crown of Night was placed
upon her shining pale countenance
without utterance, without fanfare
while some slept, not knowing, not caring
what the Universe was sharing
for the first time in centuries
How could one not want to see?...
There are things meant to make you believe
more things in Heaven and Earth
than you will ever hope to see
but when you have a chance to be
here, there, anywhere
remember, that is where you always are...
There , in the moment,
here for a lifetime,
there for each other,
everywhere, because i call you mine...
Moon has begun to fade
behind the shadow of Earth
A small, dark bite taken,
