Twelve Hours...

Spent the day deep in the woods,
it has always done more than a little good
took a deep breath as i stood
on the line between the asphalt and dirt
to take in the healing,
ease the pain i was feeling
when my thoughts are a jumble
     and my emotions are reeling
from yet another disappointment
What i hear and what was meant
nothing is written in cement
     eager as a puppy
wondering where his master went
to sit with my nose by the door again
lonely, tired and spent...

Wind chimes tinkle in the distance,
leaves crinkle and crunch  beneath my feet
Rocks sprinkled with snow ,
shining as light catches the crystals,
presenting an almost mystical scene
as light rises from the forest floor
in dots , dashes and cosmic  flashes
     Nature's Morse code,
amid the low lying fog swirling
     about bushes and trees
i walk with Spooky Girl's staff
slipping into the mist that hugs my knees
following no path or trail;
this morning i go where the spirit pleases...

Sit and whittle for a spell
in this as well i follow no plan
i listen to what the wood may tell
Back and forth scrapes the blade,
revealing the grain ,
the beauty in the life that grew
The concentric rings sing the tale
of this sapling i found in wooded dale
leaning against another tree
     crying, "Come take me;
use me so i might live again
and walk the woods in the hands of Man'"
This is how this staff began...

Look to see the sun has started sinking
realize i spent hours in one spot
just being alive, not thinking
A calm descends and i speak your  name
a sad smile and i slowly rise
     and begin to walk again...

The Moon is on fire
     red, orange and pink
make a fiery lion's mane
as she rises higher in the darkening sky
I stumble over a vine hidden among the leaves
reaching out as i fall against a dead tree
It breaks my fall and snaps  in half
and in my hand i have another Ghoststaff
Yes, i had to laugh...
